A series of high-level visits and meetings over the past 12 months have laid the groundwork to establish a new status quo in Australia's bilateral relationship with China.

The most recent Foreign and Strategic Dialogue between Foreign Minister Penny Wong and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi was an opportunity for a frank exchange of views on our shared interests and points of difference. An upcoming visit to Australia by China's Premier Li provides another opportunity for continued engagement on issues including consular cases, defence and trade, and to expand dialogue in key areas of importance, such as the Pacific, climate and energy cooperation and enhancing understanding and transparency.

Join Adelle Neary, Australia's outgoing Consul-General in Chengdu, as she reflects on her time at Post and efforts to pursue a stable and constructive relationship with China.
