We invite you to participate in a distinguished event commemorating the 20th anniversary of Lithuania's NATO membership. Hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Australia, Flinders University, and the AIIA SA, the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Australia Mr Darius Degutis presents a rigorous examination of pertinent geopolitical themes under the theme "Security, Defence, and New Lithuanian Geopolitical Reality."

At this event, we engage with the Ambassador as he navigates the landscape of Lithuania's foreign relations and global security dynamics. This talk is set to encompass several critical topics, including:

  • Analysis of the enduring partnership between Lithuania and Australia, emphasising the resilience of bilateral ties despite geographical disparities.
  • Examination of Lithuania's steadfast support for Ukraine and its broader implications for collective security within the NATO framework.
  • In-depth exploration of Lithuania's strategic stance vis-à-vis China, within the framework delineated by the Indo-Pacific strategy ratified by the Lithuanian Government in July 2023.

This event presents a unique opportunity for scholars, policymakers, and diplomatic aficionados to delve into nuanced critical discussions, facilitated by a seasoned diplomat with a wealth of experience in international affairs.
