Glasgow's COP26 concluded with a warning that the possibility of limiting the temperature increase to 1.5 degrees is at risk. Egypt's COP27 represented an opportunity to safeguard the outcomes of Glasgow; however, last minute negotiations saw COP27 "conclude with much homework and little time" as put by António Guterres (Secretary-General).

Every year, thousands of delegates and representatives from civil society gather to take stock and strengthen action on climate change. This year saw agreement on the Sharm el-Sheikh Implementation Plan, which included actions aligned with the 1.5 degree goal.

South Australia's Deputy Premier the Hon Dr Susan Close MP was one of thousands of leaders to attend the COP27 climate change summit. The SA contingent, joined by two SA tech companies and led by the Deputy Premier, represented an opportunity engage in the multilateral discussion and showcase South Australia's climate change leadership, as well as learn about best practice climate change solutions being delivered around the world.

Join us as the Deputy Premier reflects on COP27 and the opportunities for South Australia, the development of international partnerships on practical policy solutions through the Net Zero Futures Policy Forum, and the way ahead to COP28 and Australia's bid to host the 2026 UN climate conference.
