Ambassador Shingo Yamagami graduated from the University of Tokyo, Law Faculty in 1984 and studied at the graduate school of Columbia University.
Ambassador Yamagami served in the Japanese foreign service for 40 years, including as Director-General posts for intelligence and economic affairs.
His previous overseas assignments included New York, Washington D.C., Hong Kong, Geneva, London and Canberra.
After leaving the government, he is currently serving as a special advisor to the law firm TMI Associates, a senior fellow of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, and a regional director of the Institute for Regional Security.
Emeritus Professor Jain is a world renowned expert on Japanese politics, international relations, sub-national government diplomacy and India-Japanese relations.
